Playing softball at the age of 4 was her biggest joy as a kid, but not until her sophomore year at San Benito High School did Jamie Temperino realize the potential she had playing volleyball. Volleyball has opened many doors throughout her career and this time it’s getting her to a university.

emperino signed a letter of intent on April 10 to play volleyball for East Carolina University in Greenville N.C. Temperino is a communications and public relations major at Gavilan College.

I feel really excited and I appreciate it,” Temperino said about her full scholarship.  Her playing ability is above and beyond others.  She works hard, shows athleticism, has hitting ability, and is a  smart player, according to Gavilan volleyball coach Kevin Kramer.   He also said being good student helped Temperino earn this scholarship, be named to the MVP conference and All-Region team.

Temperino led the Rams volleyball team in kills (380), hitting percent (.204), blocks (55.5) and digs (340). She also attended Fresno State in 2006 where she was the lead with blocks and hitting percent.

Temperino is 5-feet, 10-inches tall.  She helped the Rams to a third place finish in the Coast Conference with a 12-9 record. She attended two showcases in Fresno and Sacramento where she was spotted by staff of East Carolina.
“I thank Ron Hannon, coaches, parents and younger sister Jennifer for all the support” Temperino said.  Hannon is the Gavilan College Dean of Athletics.

She thanks coaches for helping her to improve her game and Gavilan College for this experience in life. Temperino will be traveling more than 2,500 miles away from home, to play for the Pirates and under a new head coach Chris Rushing.  She will be getting her teaching credential to coach volleyball and softball at college or high school level.

oach Kramer expressed gratitude to Temperino, saying, “Thank you Jamie for the contribution and for putting Gavilan College on the map.”
